Easy going downtown Raleigh soccer league for 5 y.o. girl?

Does such a thing exist? My daughter and her friend want to play soccer together this fall. They are five. They are not (at this time) candidates for the Olympic team. I just want a fun, playing-with-your-friend, sports experience. I tried CASL - after I could finally get the crabby person on the phone to tell me a bit about their program she made me feel like a complete IDIOT for not knowing that I was supposed to register my child for fall soccer in the spring. Um, it's not grad school, lady, it's soccer for a FIVE YEAR OLD. She told me I can put in an application and IF my child is chosen by a coach then she might be able to play. When I asked if we could just send in both girl's applications together I was greeted with frosty silence. Apparently this violates some United Alliance of People Who Take Children's Sports Way Too Seriously rule. The people who wrote this rule obviously don't have any experience with five year old girls who will not do the activity if their friends aren't along for the fun. Or, I might say, with the moms of five year old girls who want to trade off the driving to 8:00 a.m. soccer games.
Then I tried the Salvation Army site and it basically said my child would be praying throughout the soccer experience. I don't think she'll be that bad of a player and the idea of my child having to basically join a church to play a game was not pleasant either.
So, somewhere out there (well, in downtown Raleigh) is there, pretty please, a soccer league for kids to play and have fun? Is there?

My friend took her kids to Salvation Army rec league and loves it. Not sure where it is, but she lives near downtown too and it's convenient.
Very informal - here's a link: http://www.keepthebellringing.org/about/whatwedo_commcent.html.
There's stuff on the 2008 rec league on the right hand side of the page.
Let us know where you go!

So I totally missed the part that you tried Salvation Army - so I'm completely no help at all. Sorry about that.

OK - so since I was no help earlier, thought I'd look around. Not really a soccer league but it's soccer and it's near downtown.
It's the Little Lions Soccer city parks program at Lions Park, 516 Dennis Ave. sort of near Mordecai. For ages 3 to 5. Runs three nights in September.
Here's a link with more details: http://search.raleighnc.gov/search?q=little+lions+soccer&restrict=&btnG=...

and then click on "Lions Park."
